Eleanor Bravo, director of Food and Water Watch New Mexico, led this teach-in and discussion about the campaign to establish GMO food labeling in New Mexico. The event took place on January 4, 2013 at La Montanita Food Co-op in Santa Fe, NM. Other speakers included Miguel Santistevan from Sol Feliz Farm in Taos, student activist Carmen Stone from NMHU, and Robin Seydel from La Montanita Food Co-op. The amendment (SB 18) was drafted with support from the consumer advocacy group Food Water Watch and is strongly supported by many national and local organizations and individuals including food cooperatives, organic farmers, environmentalists and food justice proponents.
