Provocation – Total Extinction – Video

Provocation - Total Extinction
One of the greatest new school Slam albums I #39;ve heard in years. If you aren #39;t already a fan of these guys, you should be ashamed.

By: Forging The Gods (2012) Lyrics: Intelligence, sacred mystery to us. Fatal if it stops being so mystical. Mere fallible humans may build artificial intelligence someday. The human mind, not the limit of the possible. The first general intelligence was born into the beginning of things. Now we are smart enough to create problems for ourselves but not subtle enough to solve them. We will face a major problem. The challenge of smarter-than-human intelligence. The way out of the vulnerable phase of the life cycle. The most dangerous risk we face, Biological augmentation. Genetic engineering. Computer emulation of the brain. Smarter minds, effective at building more smarter minds. (Provocation is responsible for/owns all of this material; these songs have been ripped from the actual CD, not some bootleg or mediafire bullshit. If at any point Provocation or Sevared Records wants these videos taken down, I #39;ll happily do so.)

Really, check it out. allonevoice.bandcamp.com LYRICS: I have no idea how to try to cope, The tragedy grabs at me BY THE THROAT, I find I felt for you like you were my FIRST BORN, Listening to all of your art, my OLIVER HART, hurts more. I #39;m writin #39; because you #39;re dead, wishin #39; you were alive feelin #39; empty since you left and yet inspired to survive, something melted inside when the news hit my ears, I feel I #39;m missing a sibling with which I grew amid my years. Genetics key to beef supply

INCREASED adoption of leading-edge reproductive technology that multiplies superior genetics remains the key to expanding beef supply, especially with greater consumer uptake of MSA graded and branded beef at home and growing demand world-wide for high-quality cuts.

This is the view of genetics and breeding specialist Don Nicol, who has recently returned from South America and witnessed first hand the rapid advances beef producers there were making in fixed time artificial insemination (FTAI) where suitable females were heat synchronised and as many as 500 were blanket inseminated on one day without any heat checking.

"When you see the scale with which our South American competitors are developing their reproductive programs, there is a real danger that we will be left behind if we don't match the effort in this area," he said.

A study earlier this year into the adoption of AI in Brazil showed the country's beef producers were artificially inseminating between seven and 12 per cent of the nation's 76 million beef cows.

Brazil's use of semen in its cattle industries has evolved from nearly 2.6 million straws or ampoules in 1991, with a staggering 300pc increase to 10,415,050 straws sold in the country in 2010.

Of the total used in 2010, 6,074,534 straws (58.32pc) was national semen and 4,340,516 straws (41.68pc) were imported.

Mr Nicol said that trend was continuing to grow, a pattern that was incidentally creating opportunities for Australian exporters of stud genetics, particularly Angus, who could over the coming years ride the trend of increased Bos Taurus utilisation in cross-breeding programs with Bos Indicus-derived cattle.

The unfolding story in Brazil is one of beef producers hanging on to their native Nellore Bos Indicus base but introducing Angus genetics to take advantage of processor premiums from a host of companies, such as Mafrig, which pay for beef suitable for a growing portfolio of branded Angus beef products.

"If you had told me five years ago that we would be seeing branded Angus beef on retail shelves in Brazil, I would've said you were crazy," Mr Nicol said.

"Like here in Australia and the US, this black Angus phenomenon has moved through the meat trade and it's now happening in South America.

Genetics Society of America's GENETICS Journal Highlights for January 2013

Newswise Bethesda, MDDecember 28, 2012 Listed below are the selected highlights for the January 2013 issue of the Genetics Society of Americas journal, GENETICS. The January issue is available online at http://www.genetics.org/content/current. Please credit GENETICS, Vol. 193, January 2013, Copyright 2013.

Please feel free to forward to colleagues who may be interested in reporting on these articles.

ISSUE HIGHLIGHTS

Dispensable, redundant, complementary, and cooperative roles of dopamine, octopamine, and serotonin in Drosophila melanogaster, pp. 159176 Audrey Chen, Fanny Ng, Tim Lebestky, Anna Grygoruk, Christine Djapri, Hakeem O. Lawal, Harshul A. Zaveri, Filmon Mehanzel, Rod Najibi, Gabriel Seidman, Niall P. Murphy, Rachel L. Kelly, Larry C. Ackerson, Nigel T. Maidment, F. Rob Jackson, and David E. Krantz Monoamines such as dopamine and serotonin are implicated in multiple neuropsychiatric diseases. Previous studies hint at important interactions between these neurotransmitter systems. These authors inactivated the ability of fruit flies to use any monoamine neurotransmitters, and then added back one system at time. This uncovered unexpected relationships between aminergic neurotransmitter pathways that may aid the development of new neuropsychiatric treatment strategies.

Demographic inference reveals African and European admixture in the North American Drosophila melanogaster population, pp. 291301 Pablo Duchen, Daniel ivkovi, Stephan Hutter, Wolfgang Stephan, and Stefan Laurent Drosophila melanogaster spread from Africa and adapted to new environments. To find signatures of these adaptive events we need to understand the demography, since demography and selection leave similar patterns in the genome. By using an approximate Bayesian computation method the authors modeled the joint demography of three populations of D. melanogaster from DNA sequence data (next-generation sequencing). They conclude that the North American population was founded by an admixture between an African and a European population, and estimated the admixture proportion. They also found that a population bottleneck fits best the demographic history of the African population.

Extensive divergence between mating type chromosomes of the anther-smut fungus, pp. 309315 Michael E. Hood, Elsa Petit, and Tatiana Giraud While fungi are good models for sex chromosome evolution, we know little about how their mating types influence genetic architecture. This study describes the remarkable degree to which recombination has ceased on the mating-type chromosomes of the anther-smut fungus. With relevance to plant and animal systems, this study calls for a reevaluation of theories and empirical support for sex chromosome evolution.

Genetic variants contribute to gene expression variability in humans, pp. 95108 Amanda M. Hulse and James J. Cai Increasing evidence suggests that the variance (as opposed to the mean) among phenotypes may be genotype-dependent. Conventional expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis focuses on the mean, instead of the variance, of gene expression. In this study, the authors perform an analysis that identifies what they describe as expression variability QTL (evQTL)loci associated with the variances of gene expression among three possible genotypes of a biallelic SNP. They discovered evQTL provide orthogonal information, unavailable in existing eQTL literature, on genetic control of gene expression. The evQTL can act in single-SNP and multiple-SNP effects. Detecting evQTL may represent a novel method for effectively screening for genetic interactions.

Genome reduction promotes increase in protein functional complexity in bacteria, pp. 303307 Yogeshwar D. Kelkar and Howard Ochman This article provides evidence that organisms with small genomes compensate for gene loss with increased protein multitasking. Kelkar and Ochman compared protein interaction networks of six bacteria and found that proteins encoded by small genomes interact with proteins that have a wider range of functions than do their orthologs from larger genomes. Thus, reduced genomes have increasingly complex functional relationships among the proteins they encode.

Defining the epigenetic mechanism of asymmetric cell division of Schizosaccharomyces japonicus yeast, pp. 8594 Chuanhe Yu, Michael J. Bonaduce, and Amar J. S. Klar The intrinsic chirality of double helical DNA has the potential to carry genetic information. This group previously demonstrated that indeed it does in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, whose cell type is determined by an epigenetic difference between the DNA strands. They now show that this is also the case for the evolutionarily distant fission yeast S. japonicas. The conservation of this mechanism of inheritance over vast evolutionary time makes one think that DNA-strandspecific epigenetic differences might be responsible for asymmetric cell division in larger eukaryotes. Processing body and stress granule assembly occur by independent and differentially regulated pathways in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, pp. 109123 Khyati H. Shah, Bo Zhang, Vidhya Ramachandran, and Paul K. Herman Certain mRNAs can be organized into discrete granules in eukaryotic cells to facilitate their translation, decay, and/or localization. This study offers insights into how assembly of two evolutionarily conserved ribonucleoprotein complexesthe processing body and stress granuleis controlled. This work demonstrates that these complexes are assembled through independent pathways and that both complexes have an important role in nondividing, quiescent cells.

ABOUT GENETICS: Since 1916, GENETICS (http://www.genetics.org/) has covered high quality, original research on a range of topics bearing on inheritance, including population and evolutionary genetics, complex traits, developmental and behavioral genetics, cellular genetics, gene expression, genome integrity and transmission, and genome and systems biology. Calculate the Molecule Mass Relative of the Compound

Molecular mass relative (Mr) calculated from the atomic mass number (Ar) of the elements in the molecule. Ar express the weight of the element relative to 1/12 atomic mass of C-12 isotope. Here is the example of the Mr NaCl calculation.

Since Ar Na=23 and Ar Cl=35,5

so, Mr NaCl is equal to the sum of that:
Mr NaCl = (1 x Ar Na) + (1 x Ar Cl) = (1 x 23) + (1 x 35,5) = 23 + 35,5 = 58,5

Now, you have to able to calculate the amount of Mr H2SO4 while known that Ar H = 1, Ar S = 32 and Ar O = 16. Right, the answer below.
Mr H2SO4 = (2 x Ar H) + (1 x Ar S) + (4 x Ar O) = (2 x 1) + (1 x 32) + (4 x Ar 16) = 2 + 32 + 64 = 98

The value of atomic mass number of some elements shown below.
H = 1        Li = 7        Mg = 12
C = 12      Na = 23      Ca = 40
O = 16      K = 39        Fe = 56
N = 14      Cl = 35,5    Cu = 63,5Source:

WARF sold Geron Corp. exclusive rights to work on human stem cells but later sued Geron Corp. to recover some of the previously sold rights. The two sides agreed that Geron Corp. would keep the rights to only three cell types. In 2001, WARF came under public pressure to widen access to human stem-cell technology.[70] A request for reviewing the WARF patents 5843780; 6200806; 7029913 US Patent and Trademark Office were filed by non-profit patent-watchdogs The Foundation for Taxpayer Consumer Rights, and the Public Patent Foundation as well as molecular biologist Jeanne Loring of the Burnham Institute. Another part of the challenge states that these techniques, developed by James A. Thomson, are rendered obvious by a 1990 paper and two textbooks.
